. . . lived a few villagers around a large town center. They spent most of their days gathering berries, farming in fields, hunting nearby animals, fishing along the shore, chopping wood, and mining gold and stone. Ah . . . these were the days of the Dark Age, where the town center was bustling with hard working villagers, both men and women, building modest homes, granaries, and lumber mills. Yes, these were simpler, peaceful times.
Until one day, the town scout came running back like the wind to warn his village that there were enemy towns close by. My people! he cried. There are other towns around us, inhabited by different civilizations who speak peculiar languages which are very hard to understand. Some of these civilizations were Japanese, Teutons, Franks, Britons, and Vikings. They are training huge armies made up of longbowmen, knights, axemen, champions, and more. We must do something to protect ourselves, for I barely escaped the arrows that came flying out of their town centers and the ferocious wolves that furiously chased me into the forest.
Fearing for their lives, the villagers immediately started building walls and towers to protect themselves. They constructed gates, which would open and close whenever the villagers wanted to roam outside their fortress to gather more wood or food. Worried that the walls may not hold off their enemy neighbors, over the ages (Feudal, Castle, and Imperial) they started building archery ranges, barracks, stables, monasteries, shipping docks, siege workshops, towers, and a gigantic castle. They also built universities and blacksmiths where they learned how to make suits of armor for each military unit, researched how to make gunpowder, and other protective devices.
With their multiple armies standing guard at the town gate and the monks ready to convert enemy troops and to heal the wounded, they were ready to face their destiny. As the last villager was garrisoned in the castle, Enemy sighted! was shouted from one of the outposts and a flare was signaled over the town. From high over the hills, the troops could hear the sounds of a huge trebuchet slowly making its way down the path, galloping horses drawing nearer, and the voices of a hundred men from the east and west closing in. This is it! No turning back! shouted the commanding general. Into position! Launch the mangonels, bombard cannons, and heavy scorpion first! Then I want the knights, and crossbowmen to follow through. As each army stared at each other from a distance, there was a temporary but terrifying silence until someone shouted, Chaaaaaaaaaaarge!
How will this story end? Who will arise victorious and who will walk away defeated? Only YOU possess the power, the strategic mind, and the leadership to help this and future civilizations emerge the victor in the real-time, multiplayer world of The AGE OF KINGS!
