BELTER ATTACK DISRUPTS ALADDIN CAMPAIGN
A Belter strike force, commanded by Orion Sholes, launched a surprise attack on Iron Coalition forces near the Aladdin system. The attack comes in response to an Iron Coalition statement claiming responsibility for the destruction of the Hermes, a Belter prospector ship owned by Sholes and his associates.
The Belter attack force - which consisted of a handful of smaller capital ships and at least 30 fighters and bombers - struck without warning, destroying at least 10 Iron Coalition fighters that were deployed against nearby GigaCorp anti - starfighter emplacements.
Sholes' flagship, the Sky Raptor, inflicted severe damage against the Odysseus, reportedly the Iron Coalition command ship, and preferred craft of General Fisk, the IC leader.
As a result of the Belter attack and the damage it inflicted on the Odysseus, GigaCorp forces were able to launch a counter-offensive, forcing a retreat. The current whereabouts of the Coalition forces is not known.
GigaCorp forces were jubilant. Merecedes Kelleher, current CEO of GigaCorp, made a rare public appearance, broadcasting a real-time transmission to her forces.
The following is a transcript of the broadcast:
Ladies and Gentlemen, your attention please.
It is my pleasure to announce that, as of 0400 Earth-time today, Iron Coalition forces have withdrawn from the region around the Aladdin colony. I commend you all for your loyalty and bravery.
I would like to extend additional commendations to the brave pilots of our new wing of Katana-class interceptors. In their final engagement, they scored an impressive 70 percent kill ratio, with only three casualties. A job well done.
You have prevailed against a numerically superior enemy and defending your - our - livelihood. Again, you have my thanks.
>>Blastoff: node: 67171.9192: Impressive kill ration. I wonder how much of that is truth, and how much PR.
>>KillRaven_44: node: 962.3984_2: Pretty accurate. I managed to snag some holofootage of the battle. The IC boys took a real pounding.
