The expansion Iron Blitz is a complete game in itself with tons of new features and cool new scenarios. The A&A team has worked extra hard to bring you requested features like a Game Editor and the ability to import icons of your own design. Check out the full list below:
NEW FEATURES
- Scenarios: Iron Blitz offers several new scenarios playable under different rulesets. Try out 1939A (Historical 1939), 1939B (Russia in the Axis), 1939C (USA Stands Apart), 1942A (Russia Neutral), 1945A (Aggressive Russia, Historical), 1945B (Aggressive Russia, Japan Defeated) and Cold War B (Flashpoint Europe).
- Unit Graphics: You can choose between old-style unit graphics, or new nation-specific graphics.
- Custom Unit Sprites: And if you don't like either of those, you can actually import your own unit art into the game. The Icon Editor allows you to create a complete set of custom unit sprites and trade the file with other players, so you can all benefit from the changes.
- Game Editor: This allows you to change the starting conditions for each game, including starting IPC totals, allegiance for each nation, and starting unit placement.
- Territory Editor: Now, you can change both which country owns and occupies a territory at the start of the game and the IPC value of each territory.
- The Newspaper: The redesigned, two-page end-of-round newspaper has lots of information on how the battles are going.
Perhaps most dramatically, the game adds two entirely new units: Marines and Destroyers.
- Marines: Marines can attack and defend only in land territories. But, they can be transported by sea to troubled areas or used as reinforcements. When making an amphibious assault, their attack rate is higher.
- Destroyers: This is the new sea unit, and their special ability is an immunity to an enemy submarine's First Strike attack.
Note that the Axis & Allies Iron Blitz CD-ROM contains the version 1.33 game upgrade. Your previous saved games of original Axis & Allies WILL work with Iron Blitz. All players in a multiplayer game MUST be playing the same version of the game.
