You have slain Diablo, saved the world of Sanctuary, and heard Deckard Cain speak his last riddle. So why is your Sorceress still awake at three in the morning, teleporting into the same dungeon for the hundredth time? Welcome to the endgame, adventurer, where the true hunt begins.
Once a hero clears Hell difficulty, the goal shifts from finishing the tale to farming the finest loot in the land. Items climb from normal to magic, rare, set, and unique, and the rarest set and unique treasures, together with the high runes that power your runewords, fall only when you defeat the mightiest foes again and again.
Where the Veterans Grind
- Mephisto runs. One of the three Prime Evils, the Lord of Hatred broods in the Durance of Hate. A waypoint sits one level above him, and a cunning hero can pin Mephisto across the blood moat, blasting away in safety while set and unique items rain down.
- Diablo runs. Deep in the Chaos Sanctuary of Act IV, break the five seals and cut down the three seal bosses (the Grand Vizier of Chaos, Lord De Seis, and the Infector of Souls). Then the Lord of Terror himself appears for a rich reward.
- Baal runs. The crown jewel of Lord of Destruction, high above Harrogath. Fight through five waves of minions in the Throne of Destruction, then face Baal in the Worldstone Chamber. No trip on Battle.net grants experience faster, which is why the long road to level 99 is paved with dead Baals.
The Magic Find Edge
The secret weapon is Magic Find, the "Better Chance of Getting Magic Items" bonus you stack on rings, charms, and armor. More Magic Find means more rares, sets, and uniques, though the game grants ever smaller returns as a drop climbs toward unique, so wise hunters weigh kill speed against sheer luck. Many build a dedicated runner: a Teleporting Sorceress for Mephisto, a Blessed Hammer Paladin for Chaos, or a Barbarian who Finds Items on every corpse.
Bring friends. A full party of eight in one game raises both the danger and the loot, and Hardcore heroes wager their very lives for a place on the Ladder. Line up your runs, sharpen your skills across all three trees, and may your next drop be the one you have been dreaming of.
