General Tips

  • Scout for resources as soon as possible, then position your buildings to best exploit the material. But don't stretch your defenses too thin; if a second resource field is too far off and you try to mine those resources without a proper defensive build-up, you may be in for a rude awakening if your enemy is out in force.
  • Construct more than one builder (only UCS and ED use builders). This will speed your construction of buildings and, more importantly, your defensive structures such as turrets, trenches and walls.
  • Arm your buildings if you can. Research upgrades for building defenses as well. An armed building can hold an enemy attack at bay until your armored units can respond.
  • Build three research centers, but know more. Three centers optimize the speed at which research is completed. Four or more centers offer no additional bonuses.
  • Research and build repair vehicles. Replacing destroyed units is always more expensive than repairing damaged units. Repair vehicles should follow your main force, but remain out of the line of fire. Set your fighting units to withdraw once they've reached 50% damage, then assign a repair vehicle to that unit to get it back into fighting shape.
  • Be ruthless when it comes to keeping your enemy off your resources. If you spot their mine or refining plant, destroy them and place your own over the site. Be prepared for a counterattack, though, because your enemy will be certain to return for a little payback.
  • Use the darkness of night to your advantage when on the offensive. Turn off your vehicles' lights to lower their visibility. Keep in mind, however, that your vehicles will slow down when their lights are off. If you need to retreat, remember to turn your vehicles' lights back on so they can fall back at full speed.
  • Banners improve your units fighting stats when in close proximity during battle. It might be a worthy investment to equip a few light vehicles with banners, and assign them to your platoons.
  • Don't keep your transport in the mission area. Instead, after each shipment of vehicles into the mission area, immediately return the transport back to your main base. This way, if the enemy manages to sneak into your mission area compound and take out your Landing Zone, you won't be stranded, and therefore won't lose all of your precious units unnecessarily.
  • If an enemy's turrets or guard towers are proving to be too deadly for your assaults, see if you can cut off power to the turrets by taking out any power stations, or power nodes that are feeding them. Without electricity, turrets provide excellent stationery targets.
