Apprentice Force Commanders, CombatPilot.com Group
The Fighter Ace team is currently taking applications for qualified volunteers to join our Scenario Team. Positions have opened up in the CombatPilot.com Group for Apprentice Force Commanders (lots of glory - no pay). The ideal candidate for this position would like to command large numbers of pilots in battle and possess a complete understanding of and competence in, aerial group tactics, group motivation and air to air gunnery, or demonstrate a willingness to learn.
Duties include: Motivating and organizing small (flight level) to large groups (Wing or Air Force size units) of pilots via email and other electronic means, hands-on intervention in support of the Air Marshal's planning initiatives, operating a variety of high-powered World War II virtual aircraft, ability to travel the all corners of the virtual globe to command groups, and performing competitive intelligence. Some eradication of opposing forces is also required, which may be performed using individual or group tactics.
Qualified applicants would possess good communications skills (especially when communicating via email in large volumes), and would be action-oriented individuals and judicious risk takers. A background in study of World War II ground and air tactics is desirable, as would typically be acquired by those with advanced degrees or significant course work in United State Air Force College, Annapolis, West Point, the War College, Sandhurst, or Etajima. Applicants should also be familiar with the characteristics of World War II fighter aircraft, possess a valid Zone ID, and must show a willingness to work cooperatively in large groups. A proven track record of using motivational techniques and communication skills to create teams is also desirable, as is the ability to speak pilotese.
Ideal candidates for this position would enjoy the challenge of air combat and have the desire to move up from the furball to positions of responsibility. The Apprentice Force commanders reports to and works closely with the Air Marshals, Scenario staff, Fighter Ace and Zone personnel, and experience in such small, team-based organizations is vital to the success of the scenario experience. Discretion is also highly valued, as is the ability to anticipate potential problems.
