On May 11, 2000, the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences (AIAS) announced the recipients of its third annual Interactive Achievement Awards, the Oscars of computer gaming. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000 Professional Edition captured top honors as Simulation Game of the Year for the PC.
The AIAS is the professional academy of the interactive entertainment software industry. To applaud outstanding achievements in interactive entertainment over the past year, the Academy presented Interactive Achievement Awards in 29 craft, console, computer, and online categories.
