High Heat Baseball 2000 breaks new ground on the Zone! Challenge your friends to a game, and see who can manage their team to victory. Human players raise the game to a new level that cannot be matched by the computer opponent. But there are a few cautions you should observe to ensure your most enjoyable game experience. Humans are far more crafty and unpredictable than computers, so stay alert!
When you play on the Zone, you may create your own game as Host or you can join a game created by someone else. When you join, make sure that you check all of the settings. All settings for each player should be exactly the same, unless you and your opponent have discussed the changes. Unequal settings can give an advantage to one player or another. It's probably a good idea to lay out the type of game you want to play while you are still in the game lobby of the Zone. That way, if your opponent wants a different kind of game than you are looking for, you can easily switch matchmaking areas.
Once the host has launched the game, you can use the chat feature of the game to ask a question or clarify any issues. Just click your mouse in the chat window, type what you want to say, and hit Return or click Send. Your message will appear in the dialog box and your opponent will see it as well.
Once you have settled on the game parameters, it's time to Play Ball! If you are the host, watch the OK or Play Ball button in the lower right corner of the screen. It will become live (highlighted) when your opponent is ready. This is your only indication that your opponent is ready to play. It's a good idea to use the chat box to check on this if you are unsure.
If you have joined the game, then check all of the game parameters and if they are what you agreed on with the Host, click the Ready button in the lower right corner. If not, use the chat box to talk with the host and make the necessary setting corrections.
Once your teams are on the field, it's baseball as usual, or should we say, computer baseball extraordinaire! The best part about playing on the Zone is that you can interact with your opponent through the chat box. Compliment your friend on a great play or taunt him for an error, or just talk about some of the great all-time baseball games. It's a great way to make new baseball friends online.
Good Luck and Play Ball!
