Team War

The MSN Gaming Zone thanks TnT_Death of the TnT clan for his game tips on Team Wars. If you have other Outwars tips that you would like to submit, please e-mail Zidea@Microsoft.com. -- MSN Gaming Zone

Team War is a situation in which one team must kill the other. It's that simple. There are many strategies for Team War. Some are based on keeping yourself from being killed by choosing defensive weapons; others are based on avoiding the dreaded guided missiles. In addition, there's the offensive strategy of attacking your opponents with your full available arsenal. It's a lot like a free-for-all, but in groups.

Many people enjoy Team War because of its scoring system. There are both individual scores, as well as a cumulative score for the team. Teams can vary from four to eight players. Most people play a 2x2 or a 3x3 game. The 4x4 game is seldom played because the lag tends to build up within the game.

Choosing the game is usually the same. You will have a Team War with Regeneration on, which means you will keep regenerating until a certain score is achieved or the time limit is up. The player on the host computer sets these options.

With Regeneration on, you have to keep killing the other team, but be careful! Mistakes such as missed shots and timed mines that you lay can kill your teammate.

With Regeneration on you will receive the following points:

  • +25 points for each enemy player killed
  • -25 points for killing yourself or a friendly player
  • +1 point per point of damage you inflict on an opponent
  • -1 point per point of self-inflicted damage
The team's score is the sum of all individual scores.

If you choose to set Regeneration off, you must kill the other team before they kill you. This is similar to a Team "Last Man Standing." I hope you enjoy these tips; this will get you started on your own Team Wars.
