The UA Aggression Settings

Sometimes you don't want your squadrons to "go, go, go" on the highest aggression. There are different advantages to each of the aggression settings. This article will help you decide which settings to apply to your units.

Basic drone intelligence. What you should expect.
A drone's aggression setting determines the extent to which it will engage the enemy while carrying out your orders. It is up to you to monitor and change the aggression setting on all of your squadrons in order to get them to do what you want.

What are aggression settings and how do I change them?
You have five aggression settings. You can set the aggression in the squadron manager by clicking one of the aggression boxes next to each squadron, or you can select the squadron and type 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 on your keyboard.

Choosing 1 makes your units retreat back to the host station, where they will defend themselves but may not leave the sector the station is in. Any badly damaged squadron leader will automatically set itself to this setting.

Why would I want this setting?

Setting 1 lets you get a lost or damaged squadron back to the host station easily and quickly, and also enables you to mount a quick defense of your host station with a nearby or fast-moving squadron.

Selecting 2 will make your units ignore all other tasks until the order you gave them last has been completed or they are destroyed. Once they're done, the units will begin defending themselves again but will not leave the area the last order was given at. Newly created Scout squadron leaders are set to 2 by default.

Why would I want this setting?

When you want squads to perform objectives without being lured into traps or battles by enemy drones.

A squadron set on 3 will perform all the same tasks as units set on 2, but if attacked, they will stop, defend themselves, and even pursue fleeing enemy units before they've completed the original task. This is the default setting for all newly created squadron leaders, with the exception of Scouts.

Why would I want this setting?

It gives you the most independent squadrons for engaging and attacking sighted enemy drones and host stations.

Setting 4 will perform all the same tasks as 3 but will also attempt to claim enemy or neutral sectors on their way to any location on the map. Some units move faster than others and will be less efficient at claiming sectors. Typically, slow-moving ground or heli-type vehicles will be the best for this setting.

Why would I want this setting?

You need to conquer sectors to make your power stations' output efficient. This setting allows exploring drones to multitask with a minimum of time wasted. Remember, the more sectors you claim, the fewer your enemy has.

Aggression 5 is the go-AMOK setting. A squadron set on this level will attempt to destroy everything in or entering the sector they are ordered into. They will not purposely target friendly squadrons, but they will accidentally shoot them while aiming elsewhere.

Why would I want this setting?

Order drones to destroy power stations that may be ruining your energy efficiency or that are at risk of being taken by an enemy.
