The wait is over, warriors. Blizzard's expansion to Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos has landed, and it hauls a mountain of fresh content onto the battlefields you have come to love here at the Internet Gaming Zone. The Frozen Throne picks up right where the original left off, following Arthas back to a crumbling Lordaeron, Illidan's desperate bid to shatter the Lich King's icy prison, and Sylvanas Windrunner's bloody uprising against the Undead Scourge.
Four New Heroes. Every race gains a powerful new champion to lead into battle:
- Human Alliance raise the Blood Mage, whose Flame Strike and Siphon Mana rewrite any engagement.
- Orc Horde call the Shadow Hunter, a nimble healer and hexer.
- Undead Scourge summon the Crypt Lord, an armored bruiser who spawns Carrion Beetles.
- Night Elf Sentinels field the Warden, striking from the dark with Blink and Fan of Knives.
Heroes For Hire. The new Tavern lets any commander recruit neutral heroes who answer to no race. Spend your gold on the Pandaren Brewmaster, the Naga Sea Witch, the Beastmaster, the Pit Lord, or the Dark Ranger, then march them off to farm creep camps for experience and items just like your standard champions.
New Units and War at Sea. Each army welcomes reinforcements, from the Human Spell Breaker and Dragonhawk Rider to the Orc Spirit Walker and Troll Batrider, the Undead Destroyer, and the Night Elf Mountain Giant and Faerie Dragon. Best of all, naval combat returns. Build a Goblin Shipyard on the coast, load your Transport Ships, and send Battleships to trade fire across the new water maps.
Four Campaigns. The single-player saga runs three full acts plus a bonus:
- Terror of the Tides, where Maiev hunts Illidan through the ruins of the Night Elf lands.
- Curse of the Blood Elves, following Kael'thas and Lady Vashj into a pact with the Naga.
- Legacy of the Damned, as Arthas and Sylvanas decide the fate of the Frozen Throne.
- Plus The Founding of Durotar, a role-playing bonus chapter starring Rexxar of the Horde.
All of it plugs straight into Battle.net and LAN play right here on the Zone. Sharpen your micro on the ladder, then dive into the booming custom scene, from Tower Defense to hero arenas. We will see you on the Frozen Throne.
