The Zone operates two chat rooms to assist players. By clicking on the buttons below, you agree to abide by the terms found at the bottom of this page.
Sysop Help Room
The sysop help room is monitored by Sysops whose role is to help make the Zone a safe and fun place. If you are having problems with a disruptive player, please select this room.
Technical Chat
The Technical chat is hosted by Zone volunteers. They will attempt to solve any related technical difficulties you may be experiencing. If you have a Zone-specific technical issue, please select this room.

How Zone Sysop Help and Technical Help Chat Works
- These special chat rooms are moderated chat rooms. The Host is called a Moderator. This person allows you to ask your question.
- People with the @zTech nicknames, those with the + sign in front of their names (Sysops) and those with a * in front of their name (*ZSTARs) are volunteers that are here to assist you in the operation of the Zone and the games playable on the Zone. zTechs will help you with technical questions relating to the Zone and your connection to our services, Sysops will be available to help with disruptive users and other issues. (If you want to find out more about becoming a Sysop or a ZSTAR yourself, visit the Zone's main page, click on Services, then choose Contact Us to read about the various positions.)
- When you enter the Chat Room, you will be in Watching mode and unable to chat.
- To ask a question, choose Chat\Ask Question from the menu. This will place your Zone Name in the right column's Waiting category.
- While you are waiting for your turn, type your question or problem. Be ready to hit the ENTER key to display your question when you are moved to Asking mode. When making a complaint about a disruptive user, be sure to include name, games, room name, and problem.
- When someone is available to answer, the Moderator will move you to Asking mode, and you will be able to ask your question.
Zone Sysop Help and Technical Help Chat Rules
- Please keep in mind the Sysop Help room is not staffed 24 hours per day. It may be necessary for the Moderator on duty to handle situations outside this chat room. Technical questions may require research time. Therefore, not all situations can be handled immediately. If the Moderators or Guests are not speaking, or you don't get an immediate response to your question, it probably means they are handling situations outside this chat room or searching for the appropriate answers to other questions, using all available resources. Sending ZoneMessages and posting "Did you hear me?" are unnecessary distractions.
- We will try to accommodate your questions/complaints in order; however, the waiting and asking queues are managed at the Moderator's discretion. The Moderator reserves the right to call upon anyone in the waiting queue in any order, as well as the right to move you out of the asking queue if necessary.
- Please wait your turn and refrain from ZoneMessaging for immediate attention. ZoneMessage is a helpful tool when used properly, but unnecessary requests take attention away from the problem being worked on and could result in a longer delay.
- The primary duty of Zone Sysops is helping make the Zone a safe and fun place for Zoners. They are not obligated to handle technical questions. The primary duty of people with the @zTech nicknames is staffing the Zone Technical Chat room. They are not obligated to handle disruptions in game lobbies while on duty in the Technical Chat room.
- Members of the Sysop and @zTech team are not MS personnel and are not in a position to alter policies. They may choose to forward your comments and suggestions on to the Microsoft Zone team, but they are not empowered to make changes in the operations of the Zone. They cannot remove incompletes from your Rating, they can't change your Rating, and they can't move heaven and earth.
If you break any of these rules, you may forfeit your place in the queue, and your status may change to Watching mode only.
