A New Ladder Season Begins
Sharpen your build orders, commanders. A brand new StarCraft ladder season kicks off this week on the Internet Gaming Zone, and every rung of the standings has been wiped clean. Whether you marched through the Koprulu sector at the side of Jim Raynor or watched Arcturus Mengsk seize control of the Terran Dominion, last season is history - and so is your old rank.
The Reset
At season start, every player's ladder standing returns to a fresh baseline. Last season's champions and last season's rookies now stand on level ground. Win your early games and you will climb fast; a losing streak will drag you back down just as quickly. The Zone tracks your record match by match, so every ranked game counts.
Popular Maps
Expect to see these fan favorites in heavy rotation:
- Lost Temple - the four-player classic that rewards clean expansions and map control.
- Showdown - a tight two-player map made for serious one-on-one duels.
- Hunters and Big Game Hunters - crowded melees where the minerals flow fast and alliances break faster.
- Blood Bath - close quarters, no room to hide, and rushes that arrive before your first bunker is finished.
How to Climb
- Master one race first. Terran, Zerg, and Protoss each play differently - pick Raynor's marines, Kerrigan's swarm, or the templar of Tassadar and Zeratul, and learn it cold.
- Never stop mining. A steady flow of minerals and vespene gas wins more games than any single unit.
- Scout early and often. Knowing your rival's build is half the battle.
- Play the ladder, not just your friends. Ranked matches are how you earn your standing.
Brood War veterans and fresh recruits alike are already logging on. The season is young, the ladder is open, and the top of the standings is anyone's to claim. We will see you in the Koprulu sector.
